Dr. Joe Young
Principal Consultant Health Physicist
Joe is the Managing Director of Australian Radiation Services Pty. Ltd. (ARS) and has worked in the field of radiation protection for more than thirty years. For most of his professional career, Joe was employed by the Australian Radiation Laboratory (now ARPANSA). Joe is the inaugural Chairman of the Victorian Branch of the Australasian Radiation Protection Society (ARPS) and is a member of the Executive of ARPS. Joe is a Chartered Radiation Protection Professional of The Society for Radiological Protection.

Darren Billingsley
Senior Health Physicist
Darren has almost 10 years experience in the radiation safety industry on operational industrial sites, predominantly within Australia. Darren has been employed with Western Mining in the underground copper/uranium mine in South Australia, briefly in the British nuclear fuel industry and has been involved in the rehabilitation of the former nuclear test site at Maralinga, South Australia. Employed with the health physics provider, CH2M HILL, as an on-site Deputy Site Manager, Darren was responsible for implementation of a monitoring programme at the plutonium contaminated site, and characterisation of rehabilitated areas. Darren recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Hygiene.

Simon Toomey
Senior Health Physicist
Simon is a Senior Health Physicist for ARS and has specialised in UV-visible radiation measurements, static radiation gauges, transport of radioactive sources and source disposals over the past ten years. Simon is a Member of the Australasian Radiation Protection Society and a former employee of the Australian Radiation Laboratory (now ARPANSA). Simon is responsible for both the physical and regulatory requirements for the transport and disposal of radioactive sources.
Andrew Yule
Health Physicist
Andrew joined ARS in 2007 after completing a Bachelor of Science with a major in Physics at the University of Melbourne. Andrew has experience in the IT industry and is currently working in a range of areas including static radiation gauges, general health physics and monitor calibrations.

Stephen Rutkowski
Health Physicist / Electronic Engineer
Stephen joined ARS shortly after completing an Applied Physics / Electronic Engineering double degree at RMIT University. During his 12 months at ARS, Stephen has been involved in compliance audits of static and portable industrial gauges, cabinet X-ray units, analytical X-ray units and unsealed source laboratories. Stephen recently became an approved tester in Victoria for compliance testing of medical plain radiography equipment and is now heading the Medical Physics Business Unit at ARS. Stephen also has experience in NORM surveying, radon analysis and electronic repairs of radiation monitoring equipment.

Hamish Young
Technical Officer 2
Hamish is the Technical Officer responsible for calibrating both survey and contamination monitors and performs many of the routine field surveys. Hamish provides invaluable technical support in the field, and is our naturally-occurring radioactive material surveyor offshore.
Gill Nicholson
Technical Officer 1
Gill has worked for British Nuclear Fuels and Nukem at the Sellafield and Windscale sites in Cumbria, England. Her position of health physics surveyor meant she was involved with all aspects of the commissioning, decommissioning of plants also in the process of reprocessing nuclear fuel. Her role within ARS is calibrating both survey and contamination monitors and undertaking wipe test analysis.

Julie is our Personal Radiation Monitoring Service (PRMS) coordinator. Julie is responsible for distributing the dosemeters and invoicing clients using the PRMS.
